The Supreme People's Court, in cooperation with STAR-Vietnam, held two-day seminar on "Civil Remedies for Intellectual Property Infringement" in Hanoi on June 26 and 27, 2003. The purpose of this seminar was to discuss the civil remedies available to rights holders for intellectual property infringement, to compare and contrast the current options available under Vietnamese law with those contemplated under TRIPS and the BTA. This included discussion of the draft decree on IP remedies and the draft Civil Procedure Code.
Mr. Le Hoai Duong of Lê & Lê jointed a team from the International Intellectual Property Alliance, Thai IP & International Trade Court, STAR-Vietnam to discuss civil IP remedies with judges and staff of the Supreme People's Court and local People's Courts, policymakers from the Ministry of Trade, the National Office of Industrial Property of Vietnam. He spoke, as a part of the workshop, on "Civil Remedies for Infringement of Trade Names, Geographical Indications, Well-Known Marks and Rights against Unfair Competition".
